What to Expect When Getting Started with Invisalign®
Tired of crooked teeth and thinking about straightening your smile with Invisalign®, but not sure what’s involved in the treatment? Keep reading as we walk you through what to expect — from day one to done.

Are you considering straightening your smile with Invisalign® clear aligners, but are unsure of what to expect? These dental appliances correct crooked teeth and realign your bite, reducing your risk of oral health complications, like gingivitis or infection. Knowing what to expect along the way — from day one to done — can make the process seem less formidable.

You're in the right place! At Proud to Smile Dentistry in Bernardsville, New Jersey, Patricia Swaintek-Lamb, DMD, and our care team believe in making your journey to a perfect smile as clear as your aligners.

Take a moment to go through the steps of getting started with Invisalign as we detail what you can expect, from your initial consultation to the moment you reveal your new smile.

Your Invisalign consultation

Your Invisalign journey begins with a visit to Proud to Smile Dentistry. During this initial consultation, Dr. Swaintek-Lamb discusses your orthodontic goals, examines your teeth, and determines if Invisalign is a good choice for you.

We might also take digital pictures or X-rays of your teeth. This is a good time to ask Dr. Swaintek-Lamb questions and express any concerns. Remember, our team is here to ensure you feel confident and informed every step of the way.

A customized treatment plan

Once you're set to proceed, using state-of-the-art digital imaging technology, we create a 3D model of your teeth. This isn't just any model — it's the blueprint for your future smile.

Dr. Swaintek-Lamb then crafts a custom treatment plan that maps out the precise, step-by-step transformation of your teeth. You'll even get a sneak peek at your future smile, thanks to the simulation capabilities of Invisalign’s advanced software.

Our team may perform any additional prep work you need before starting treatment. For example, some patients may need extra room created by filing away dental enamel or the addition of tiny composite patches to help the aligners grip your teeth.

Receiving your aligners

After your treatment plan is finalized, your custom aligners are manufactured and sent to our office. When they arrive, we'll invite you back to make sure your first set fits perfectly.

These aligners are virtually invisible and designed to fit snugly over your teeth, so you can wear them with confidence. Dr. Swaintek-Lamb also guides you on how to wear and care for your aligners to get the best results.
