Does your jaw click or pop when you chew, yawn, or speak? Do you tolerate jaw pain, shrugging it off as “normal?” Do you sometimes have unexplained earaches, neck aches, and headaches? These are all indications that you may be dealing with more than you bargained for and there are ways that I can help. Continue reading to learn how.
TMD includes a series of disorders of the temporomandibular (jaw) joints. It can be caused by any number of things: an injury sustained during a car accident or other event, arthritis, or jaw misalignment, just to name a few.
The symptoms can range from popping sounds and jaw tenderness to earaches and lock jaw. The good news is that there are a number of ways to relieve these symptoms and treat the cause.
Where I Come In
One of the most effective non-surgical treatments for temporomandibular disorders is an occlusal device (orthotic). This device aligns your jaw, relieving the pressure that causes the pain. Each device is customized to the needs of the patient, making it both efficient and comfortable. The amount of time each patient needs to wear the device varies according to the severity of their TMD.
If you’ve been dealing with any of the symptoms mentioned above, please let me help. There is no need for you to suffer through pain — even if it’s mild. The truth is, pain is your body’s way of saying something is wrong, so while you may have determined that pain is just something to be tolerated, your body is sending you a constant cry for help.
When you’re ready to listen to your body (and your dentist), contact my office to schedule an appointment.
