Did we recently recommend a dental crown during a prior visit, and you have postponed scheduling your appointment because you are unsure of what the treatment entails? A dental crown is one of the most common restoration treatments that we provide to patients. Even if we have not recommended this treatment to you at this time, you or a loved one may need a dental crown in the future, and we always believe it is best to be informed. Continue reading to learn more about dental crowns and how they can restore your oral health.

What is a Dental Crown?

It can be a little intimidating to learn you need dental treatment if you have never had an experience like this before. A dental crown is a common treatment that involves placing a cap over a damaged, decayed, or cracked tooth to protect it from further damage. A dental crown is also commonly used to complete certain treatments, such as a dental implant or root canal. We may recommend a dental crown to:

  • Cover a tooth after a root canal or implant
  • Cover a tooth that is misshapen or severely discolored
  • Replace a tooth with a large filling
  • Add strength to a tooth with little structure remaining
  • Fix a cracked tooth

CEREC Crowns

We know that your time is valuable, so we want to be sure that we are using it effectively. Typically, a dental crown treatment requires more than one office visit. We are pleased to offer patients a dental crown that will be completed during their initial visit. With a CEREC crown, you will avoid goopy impression materials and a temporary crown. We are able to place your permanent crown before you leave, and it will feel like your natural teeth.

If we recommended a dental crown during a prior visit, we encourage you to call our office located in Bernardsville, NJ to schedule an appointment. Delaying a needed treatment can result in more extensive treatments and additional costs. We want to help get your oral health back on track.
