Have you or a loved one recently experienced tooth loss and are deciding which tooth replacement option is best for your needs? No matter the reason for the tooth loss, it can be overwhelming to make your final tooth replacement choice. While I do what I can to offer my recommendation and answer any questions you have, the final choice is yours to make. I want to take a few moments to explain more about some of the tooth replacement options I provide to my patients. You may be thinking that this doesn’t apply to you because you’ve never experienced tooth loss, but situations can change, and you could wind up needing this information in the future. Read on to learn more.

Tooth Replacement Options

There are a number of reasons you may experience tooth loss at some point in your life, such as severe decay, trauma to the mouth, a medical condition, or an illness. No matter the reason for losing a tooth, I encourage my patients to replace any missing teeth as soon as possible. I believe in choosing an option that is aesthetically pleasing while restoring the function of your tooth but also promotes life-long health. I may recommend a treatment such as:

Dental Implants

This option is typically what I recommend first to patients. This treatment uses a multi-step process that includes an artificial tooth root being surgically implanted into the jawbone. After a few more steps, the process is complete when a tooth structure, such as a crown, is placed on top. Implants can also be used to support bridges.

Dentures and Partials

You might want full dentures if you are missing all of your teeth. I offer a number of full dentures based on your needs. You might need a partial denture if you are missing several teeth in different parts of your mouth or you are missing teeth on both sides of the arch.

If you need a tooth replacement and you’re interested in learning more about which option I would recommend or have questions regarding options we discussed, contact my office located in Bernardsville, NJ to schedule an appointment. I look forward to helping you restore your smile and improve your life.
